Sarah-Jean Varner, Proposal Coordinator
excelHR team member since [05/08]
Sarah-Jean Varner was one of those kids who couldn't resist writing on her napkin at restaurants or in the margins of her pages at school. She had her Academy Award acceptance speech for screenwriting fully composed before the age of 10-just in case. Never did she expect her love of words to land her in a bid-writing position at excelHR. "I get to write every day. It's the job I never knew I always dreamed of." Not a day goes by when Sarah-Jean says she doesn't feel like she's making an important contribution. "Winning bids means securing placements for candidates: which can touch a lot of lives." The job presents its challenges but Sarah-Jean sees each as an opportunity. "Each bid requires that we showcase the company's qualifications differently. It takes research and perseverance-and it offers great rewards," she says. Grateful for the opportunity, she recalls her grandmother's adage that the value of a thank you should never be underestimated-an ethic that's fundamental to the way excelHR operates as a company. Her colleagues are incredibly focused and hardworking, and their efforts are always received with sincere gratitude, something Sarah-Jean finds refreshing in today's fast-paced business world. She graduated with an honours degree in French from Dalhousie University. To unwind, Sarah-Jean enjoys keeping fit and working on her golf game- she already has her speech prepared for her induction into the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame.
